Shops et services
Many food shops and restaurants can be found in our area at a distance of 2 to 10 km depending on the season. Most shops and services are located in Castellane. Open-air market days are Wednesday and Saturday mornings in Castellane.
Chasteuil has a lot of charm but does not have food stores, restaurants or services.
Roads D952 and C2
Chasteuil is located 2.5 km from the D952 road, it is reached by driving up a small mountain road, the C2, not accessible to caravans. The small road is narrow and winding and you sometimes have to pull over to let a car pass by.
We recommend arriving before dark.
As we live in the countryside, a flashlight can be useful.
For Motorcyclists
The last 2.5 km is a small, steep mountain road, the C2. The C2 is narrow, and winding and, although it is paved, it sometimes has gravel on it.
Most motorcyclists have no trouble on this small road.
The Road to Chasteuil
Chasteuil is a small hamlet at 900m and located 20 minutes from Castellane, 1 hour from Moustiers Ste Marie (earthenware town), 1 hour from Grasse (perfume town), and 2h15 from Nice and Nice Côte d'Azur International Airport.

Hikes from Chasteuil
Take the GR4 towards ROUGON, passing through the Suëch plateau. Chasteuil-Suëch, 2 hours round trip, Chasteuil-Rougon, 5 hours round trip. In Rougon, nice restaurant and creperie.

Take GR4 towards CASTELLANE, passing by the chapel of St Jean de Brandis.
Chasteuil-Chapelle, 2 hours round trip, Chasteuil Castellane 5 hours round trip. In Castellane many bars, restaurants and snacks.

Chasteuil-Cole-Basse trail.
Take GR4 towards Castellane for 700 m then signposted path to the left, drop 550 meters, 4 hours round trip.

Chasteuil-Verdon River
Take road C2 for 800 m then Chemin du regrouping on the right in a bend towards Camping Huttopia. Then follow departmental border Verdon. Round trip 2 hours minimum.

From Chasteuil visit by car
Many hikes are reached by car in the area, including Sentier Blanc-Martel, Sentier de Imbut and more. The Cadières de Brandis via the Col des Lecques.

The Verdon Canyon
Right bank: Couloir Samson, Point Sublime, Route des Crètes, the villages of: Rougon, La Palud sur Verdon, Moustiers Ste Marie. . Right bank circuit there and back 4 hours minimum including stops.
Left bank: go towards Trigance (a beautiful little village to visit) to reach the left bank of the Verdon and the Corniche Sublime as far as Aiguines and the Lac de Ste Croix. Circuit with a return by right bank 5 hours minimum including stops.
Remarkable small towns and villages: Castellane, Annot, Bargème, Rougon, La Palud sur Verdon, Moustiers Ste Marie, Trigance and more.
In Castellane, markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, museums, the chapel of the Roc, the ruins of Petra Castellana and more.
Water: Swimming, canoes and pedal boats: Castillon Lake, Ste Croix Lake. Swimming pool in Castellane.

Gorges du Verdon
The Gorges du Verdon are renowned for forming the most beautiful canyon in Europe. Separating the Var and the Alpes de Haute-Provence, the Grand Canyon stretches between Castellane and Moustiers Sainte Marie and leads to the famous Lac de Sainte Croix.
Places to visit:
The Route des Crêtes from La Palud sur Verdon with a stop at the Chalet de la Maline, the first TCF refuge in the gorges now managed by the CAF and labelled Gîte de France. The many hiking trails including the Martel trail and the Imbut trail.
The Lavender Routes
Following this colourful and fragrant route is to discover a tradition that forged the landscape of the Alpes de Haute-Provence for centuries. Lavender begins to bloom in mid-June and harvesting begins in mid-July.
Places to visit:
The lavender or lavandin distilleries can be found everywhere along the lavender routes. The shops of local producers who offer you many lavender-based products (essential oil, distillation water, soap, etc.)

Route Napoleon
The Napoleon route retraces the route taken by Emperor Napoleon on his return from exile on the island of Elba, between Golfe Juan and Grenoble. This road, which follows the N85 was inaugurated in 1932 and crosses the department from Castellane to Sisteron via Digne.
